Carrollwood Village is one of Tampa’s first suburban planned communities. Developed in the late 1950s, Carrollwood Village was formed in 3 phases. Today, the name Carrollwood is frequently used generically to refer to the area centered at the intersection of North Dale Mabry and Fletcher Avenue, and extending outward. Carrollwood conjures up visions of a bustling, genteel established community of larger lots, mature trees, homes built from the 1950s to current time, all within an a very acceptable commute to Tampa’s business centers.
The convenience of the Carrollwood area cannot be disputed. Shops large and small, restaurants, golf courses public and private, and medical facilities of all types are all represented within the Carrollwood area. Housing varies from mid-century modern 1950s ranches, to townhomes and condominiums, to exquisite waterfront homes and gated enclaves.
To be honest and precise, there are actually 2 Carrollwoods: Original Carrollwood, and Carrollwood Village. Original Carrollwood was the first developed in the 60’s and consists of about 900 homes. Here you will find incredible mid-century modern homes, ranches, and lovely lakefront estates. Carrollwood Village was developed a little later. But no matter where you live in the Carrollwood area you will find amenities galore, convenient shopping of all types, restaurants aplenty. And all within a reasonable commute to downtown Tampa, Tampa International Airport and the area’s large employers. Be sure to check out local favorites Sacred Pepper, Michael’s Grill,
